Zoya Farms was born from a vision of self-reliance, sustainability, and storytelling.
Inspired by the simple joy of visitors to the island picking fruit from the garden or using fresh aloe to soothe sunburns, founder Elease August saw an opportunity to build something meaningful — a farm that regenerates land, builds community, and feeds people with dignity.
As a woman-led farm rooted in Kirtons, St. Philip, we're building a future aimed at to change the food story in Barbados — growing more of what we eat, reducing import dependency, and building regional trade potential.

Elease August turned a lifelong dream into reality in October 2022 when she acquired land in Kirtons, St. Philip with a vision of merging sustainability, innovation, and food sovereignty. Drawing on her background in logistics, entrepreneurship, and community development, Elease founded Zoya Farms as a response to Barbados’ growing need for resilient, regenerative food systems. What began with guests picking fruit from her garden and soothing sunburns with fresh aloe has grown into a mission: to build a working model of sustainable agriculture that empowers communities, restores the land, and brings food production back home.
"Our purpose, is to heal the land, provide fresh local produce, and empower our community to achieve food sovereignty."
